UPDATE: This post is now out of date. Please go to this new post instead: Where can I get help on Pinterest?
Pinterest has added a contact form. It’s at the bottom of the main help page. Help is the first option on the About drop-down menu.
Under the Contact Us heading is a bar that says, “What do you need help with?“. Click on the small arrow after the question on that bar to select a subject. The current subjects are: suggestions, account/registration, pinning, bugs, spam/abuse and other.
Some of the subjects trigger a list of related tips to show below the box. Type your message in the box and click send. One of the subjects has to be selected and something has to be in the message box before the send button is active.
The following email addresses to reach Pinterest are still listed under the Pin Etiquette section of the help page.
- Suggestions: hi@pinterest.com
- Bugs: bugs@pinterest.com
- Help: help@pinterest.com
They occasionally make announcements on their facebook page and twitter account, but they don’t currently seem to be answering any questions or even reading the questions and comments.
My boards are at debsanswers; I am debsanswers most places. If you can’t find me someplace, just ask, maybe I’m not there yet.
You can see all of my Pinterest posts here: Category Pinterest

I really hope they answer the “help” problems. I have still yet to hear from anyone at pinterest in regards to a issue that I have had ongoing for over a month. I have sent 4 emails during this time to all contact emails they have listed, not one person has every got back in touch with me. I understand they have a lot of people joining, but I would think they would try the best they can do with customer service. I could understand if I only sent one email to one email contact but to send them to all three!!! As of now I have to rate a zero so far on ANY response from pinterest for a issue you might have.
debsanswers said:
I really hate to hear that. It’s such a great site, I hope they get their act together soon. I thought adding this contact form was an improvement, but it won’t help if they’re not responding.
Tracy said:
Thank you, I really hope so because I love pinterest. I enjoy getting so many ideas for Diy and all the pins. I would just like to see all the people not just the first 30 people who follow me and check out their pages.
rita said:
My problem is somehow I keep getting all this “porn” on my Pinterest page and no matter what I do to “unfollow” and block, they just keep coming. I’m so upset by this and am probably going to have to deactivate my page. It’s disgusting that Pinterest does not give you the capacity to totally block this sort of thing. It’s gotten out of hand and I have no idea how it got started with my page. I’m embarassed to have “friends” see what’s coming up and don’t know what to do anymore but cancel. Any suggestions? I’ve tried every way to contact them but no response.
debsanswers said:
What do you mean by “on your page”? Your friends don’t see your feed. If you aren’t pinning them they won’t be on your boards.
rita said:
Well, that’s good anyway I guess! I thought that any of my “followers” would see these pins. I am NOT pinning them, I’m trying to “report” each and every one I get, but they keep coming. I make sure I go to their page and “unfollow” but it doesn’t seem to make a difference. Last night there were 53 of them between a handful of legit ones that I do follow. It’s disgusting to have to go through all of t hem. I’m so disappointed. But thank you so much for getting back to me. My girsl (27 and 29) have tried to go into all sorts of filters for me to get it stopped/blocked but it doesn’t matter. Has Pinterest “ever” acknowledged this problem? Seems there are quite a few others who this happens to…..
debsanswers said:
Are you sure they’re not coming from a group board? I would check any group boards you’re following.
rita said:
That’s the sad part. My girls suggested that and we did, but they still are coming.
debsanswers said:
Are they showing up under your list of following? What does it do when you click unfollow?
rita said:
There are 192 followers I’m suppose to have. Even though I’ve “unfollowed” each and every one of them, it still says that I have 192 followers. So…..how are these same sites (persons) I’ve unfollowed still able to post to my pinterest?
debsanswers said:
You have to look at the following, not the followers. Followers are the ones that are seeing your pins in their feed. The pins that show in your feed come from the people and boards that you are following.
Maybe you are only following some of their boards instead of all of them. Go to your page of following. If it says follow instead of unfollow, you aren’t following all of their boards, so you need to go to that user’s boards and click on unfollow on any boards you don’t want.
debsanswers said:
I guess I never look at my followers from the site. I just use the links from the email notices when someone follows me, likes my pin or repins my pin. I go through their boards then to decide what to follow. Mostly I follow individual boards.
Tracy said:
Yes, I figured that out later on. At first I would just delete all the pinterest from my email without clicking on the ones that started following me. Oh well, I now view my email closer and do what you are talking about doing.
Thank you again for all the helpful information.

Create a twitter account. Sorry, but the rules of Pinterest are that you have to have one or the other. Twitter is free, all you need to enter is an email address and your name. You don’t have to actively use the account or enter any personal information.

I recently joined Pinterest and LOVE it. In the last few days I haven’t been able to log in to my account and see my boards. Since my phone is always logged in, I can see my “likes” but when I go to my boards it say “no data connection.” If I try to log in from my PC it says I dont have an account. I sent a request through their help form. I hope they answer me soon. It would be really sad to loose all I have already pinned! I understand they are overwhlemed with the amount of activity but they have to fix these little issues so people can enjoy the site.

I have worked hours on my site and love Pinterest, but this eveningI noticed I couldn’t get into one of my boards and a board cover is missing from another board that I cannot get back. I changed my password in case anyone is messing around with my pins and boards. I’m very frustrated and can understand why everyone here is frustrated as well. Sincerely, Brigit

debsanswers said:
It should let you create a new board when you add an image. What does it do when you try to pin something with the bookmarklet? Some websites block pinterest from pinning their pictures, some sites (like facebook) aren’t compatible and sometimes there are no pictures big enough to be pinned on a particular page.

Hi Deb,
Three of my Pinterest boards have disappeared. I changed the name of one and even though it appears, i had deleted it. When you do click on it, you get a 404 page not found error message. Now, two more boards have this issue (page not found) but I hadn’t changed their names. Do you have any suggestions. I’ve emailed them with the different contacts that you have listed above and haven’t heard from anyone. Thanks so much for your time.
debsanswers said:
When did you email them? I doubt if they work over the weekend and yesterday was a holiday for some companies. I had some trouble when I changed the name of a board too, but I don’t know why your other boards would be affected. Do you want to give me a link so I can see if I can get the same errors?
debbie said:
I emailed through their site, so I don’t have a copy, but it was last week sometime. I think I just figured it out. I changed my email in my profile and the link that I was going to send you showed me that the pages in question were attached to my old email. When I just tried to change it back so that I could delete the page, it said it was being used by someone else which I doubt. I have no idea what to do.
debsanswers said:
Oh, it thinks you’re two people. I think you’ll just have to email them again and tell them you can’t access boards created before you changes your email. Make sure to include both email addresses in the message. I would put only that information in the message and not include or reference the previous emails. Keeping it simple may increase the chances of it getting attention, but they may simply fix it and not respond, since the person answering emails is probably not the person that can fix the issue.
debbie said:

There is something else very strange, these pinners have at least 100 boards with only one thing pinned on each? Why do they do this and is it some kind of scam?
debsanswers said:
According to the Pinterest blog (http://blog.pinterest.com/post/21069528666/addressing-spam-on-pinterest), You don’t need to be concerned if a spam account follows you on Pinterest, but you should definitely feel empowered to let us know about it.
You can report any pin with the report pin button.

My pinterest account was deactivated without notice and I don’t know why. I have a feeling that I pinned too many pics from one particular site (no copyright infringement as the site has a Pin algorithm to allow pinning). My only guess is that the site thought I was a spammer. I am not and have tried at least four times to request reactivation per their instructions. Outside of an autobot email response, I have been ignored and am now past frustration as I had 10 boards, over 1,000 pins and over 40 followers. Do you have any suggestions.
debsanswers said:
I don’t know of anything you can do. I don’t think they work at all on the weekends, so anything you sent last night or today, hasn’t been read yet. Really they get so much email, it could take several days to respond. Communication is something they’re not very good at.

Pinterest is a great site, but like so many booming businesses their support falls short big time. I work for a company where I am in charge of their Pinterest page, but lately the page just wont let me upload pins and sends me a message about a block they put up to combat spam…they think I’m spam! And there are barely any on there because I just started it! I sent in a help request…it got deleted. I sent in another one…no reply. It seems like, at least from your site, there are a lot of bugs and issues and it is unfortunate that no one can help. They have 31 staff members (according to their website) so you would think there would be at least someone in charge of helping the people who are using their site and making it so popular! It is unfortunate, and if I can’t get this fixed I might just have to give up on Pinterest. I don’t think it’s worth it to build something up and then constantly worry about it getting deleted or randomly stop working without anyone who can help me.
debsanswers said:
I agree with you on their lack of support and communication.
If you give me a link to your company boards, I’ll take a look. Maybe I can make some suggestions to keep you from tripping the spam traps.
debsanswers said:
Almost all of your pins are from the same source. You need to pin and repin things that aren’t from your own website. Only pin a few things at a time. Having 20 pins on the same subject from the same source in a short window of time is annoying and causes those pins to be ignored by people.
Kim Nuenke said:
I have also been trying to contact Pinterest but have received no response. As the mother of three teenage daughters who periodically browse Pinterest for fashion ideas, party themes, nail art, etc., I was appalled when I came across pornographic photos being pinned by users. I am not referring to nude photographs or even ones that can be considered soft-porn. I am referring to hard-core (xxx) pornographic images that can be viewed without a filter or even so much as a warning. (soft core porn is normally what you see in the R rated movies; hard core shows explicit sexual intercourse and oral sex). The images I saw were of full genitals, sexual intercourse, and multiple people engaging in oral/anal sexual acts. This is in no way considered “art”. It is and always will be hard-core porn. If this is what users choose to view, I have no problem as long as it is done on a separate website that is dedicated to this type of media. It should never be allowed on a website that cannot provide a warning to those about to view such images.
Pinterest specifically states that “We do not allow nudity, hateful content, or content that actively promotes self-harm on Pinterest. Our no nudity policy applies to photographic images. It does not apply to illustrations, paintings, sculptures, etc. We do not allow nude photographic images that contain exposed nipples, genitalia, and/or fully exposed buttocks.” Currently, the only way to notify Pinterest of these violations is by viewing each image individually and reporting it as “adult content”. There are over 500+ such images in violation of their “Acceptable Use Policy” being pinned on this website. I do not feel it should be my responsibility nor that of any other user to have to view and report each of these photographs. I have neither the time nor the desire to view that many images; instead, Pinterest should have in place a filter to approve every image before it is allowed to be viewed and shared on its website.
Until Pinterest makes it a priority to filter and monitor all pornographic images, I will not be browsing or pinning on their website and will not allow my daughters to do so either. Thankfully, as of now, most of these “porn pins” are stumbled upon by mistake, as I did. However, if you were to do a specific search for this type of “art”, it is unbelievable how many users violate the “no nudity” policy. Each day that these images remain visible and active, more and more people will be exposed to them, re-pin them and many will begin to think that this is acceptable and there will be no way to stop this website from turning into “Porn-trest”.
I am not passionate about many subjects, but for a website to allow such hard-core images to be viewed by its users, including young children without any type of warning is inexcusable! The computer-generated response I received when I issued my complaint is: “Pinterest is a growing company. We value our users, but due to high volume we can’t currently reply to every message. When we review messages, our top priority is account login issues. We monitor bug and spam reports for trends which we then identify and resolve, usually within 48 hours. ” It is my opinion that they should re-think their priorities! The handful of photographs that I did report to them on May 25 as containing adult content to date have not yet been removed. If Facebook is able to control, edit and filter out all pornographic images, Pinterest should be able to do the same for its users.
Nelly said:
I completely understand your situation, and unfortunately said content has only gotten worse on said site. I definitely agree that they should definitely have SOME sort of filter, much like the art website, deviantart. Where, if the owner of the account is under 18, they mandatorily cover any images like those you described, and over said age you still have the option to continue to cover said images and continue browsing as normal.
I also reeeeally wish they had a “report this board” or “report this user” option; even if as such was hidden away. That would save me countless hours of reporting each. individual. image. *eye-twitch*
I truly hope they improve, they have a really good thing going. 🙂
debsanswers said:
I never see those pictures, but almost never look at everything. I have so much in my following to keep up with or I search for specific things. Even if I search for porn (just for testing purposes), I tend to get book porn and food porn.
Kim Nuenke said:
I understand it may not “pop up” on a daily basis, but I came across it accidentally when doing a random search for a recipe. The point is, that they state that do not allow nudity, but somehow Pinterest is unable to monitor and control it, especially when so many young teen girls are frequently searching their site for beauty and fashion.
Here are just 5 examples of users and all you have to do is look at how many followers/repins each person has and you can see for yourself exactly how much “hard core porn” is filtrating this website. It will only continue to increase, as it has over the last 6 months! And yes, it is a shame, because they do have a good thing going!

I made it my job to screen shoot Pinterest & FB porn them and showcase them on tumblr to show how biased Pinterest and FB are. If their computer thinks something is against the rules one has no way to proof them wrong.
My Pinterest page was 99% Design oriented and actually many many hours of dedicated work to populate with things that are pleasing to the eye.
I had the link on my company digital address (nothing to be ashamed of!) and I am in business for 30years and work with the corporate world. So I do have a brain.
I only had stunning men (no porn no sex etc) the page was cancelled I appealed never got a reply all that for showing things like a naked buttocks.
Hey we get to see them in X fashion magazines for X reasons.. but whats left there on Pinterest is NOT for the faint hearten and I am a gay man. same goes for FB where our Canadian Nudist FB page was cancelled due to our graphic logo that is the outline of three nude men surrounded by a Canadian map all in primary colours..NOTHING porn or nude only rainbow colours and no detail what so ever..

Their support sucks. I am in a tangle with them about the “remove” button on group boards not responding. I can not get any real answer from them. They gave me an unrelated help link and fussed at me for not using the online help. But there is no online help for a button not responding. I have tried other browsers and computers and still get no response from the button, I’m furious.
debsanswers said:
There isn’t a remove button. It’s just an x beside your name. Here are the directions from the support page:
To remove a group board from your profile:
– Go to your profile by clicking on your name at the top-right toolbar on Pinterest.
– Click the Edit button underneath the board you want to rmove.
– Find your name on the list of “Who can pin?” and click the “X” to the right of it.
You’ll be asked if you want to leave the board and remove it from your profile. When you leave a group board that you did not create, the board is removed from your profile. The board continues to exist on the profiles of other collaborators.

why doesnt pininterest users understand that pinning peoples artwork is massive copyright theft i dont want someone to download my art when i have to sell it to make a living right now if i were rich i could take you all down i have to file dmcas every single day now im just gonna go straight to the bbb
debsanswers said:
You can prevent people from pinning from your website by adding this piece of code to the head of any page:
You might also want to consider adding a watermark to your pictures.
Lorene Leftwich-Sisk said:
my gallery dont allow html on their site and there is a watermark on the large sized preview and also you cant directly save the image, what they are doing however is hitting print screen or saving from the view page info section of the webbrowser, it would not be so bad if they would give me credit but i have yet to see one that does i took down 10 people this morning using my art didnt even have time to make a new piece of art i think people should be paid for time wasted on dmca cause people should not be allowed to use copyrighted now im all for the public domain and even considered donating a few but however its my time my art and people arent giving me credit also i am saving all of these little webpages that have pinned my art for later use as evidence.

debsanswers said:
They’re probably using the pin it bookmarklet. If you can’t add the code you should at least post a notice that you don’t want your photos pinned, but you may be able to request that your gallery add the code for you.
This page would let me pin several images: http://www.redbubble.com/people/loreleft27#
This one gave me a message that pinning was not allowed: http://www.redbubble.com/people/loreleft27/works/9375469-caught-on-camera-monarch-sleeping-on-the-job?c=108277-photography-4

I clicked on your name in the comments on this page (that’s also the first link in the comment above) and then I just clicked on the “pin it” bookmarklet from pinterest that I installed on my toolbar. It shows the thumbnails of all the images (26 in this case) on that page that it can pin.

Handmade in Israel said:
On Thursday I received an e-mail from Pinterest telling me that they had issued a “strike” against me because I had pinned (quite some time ago) an image I liked from an artists blog. I have contacted the artist and explained that I pinned her image simply because I liked it and nothing more, but she has written back to me quite angrily saying that her blog states that no one can reproduce any of her images without permission.
I did not realise that I needed permission to pin an image on Pinterest – I have no intention of reproducing it or using it in any way.
It is impossible to contact Pinterest to ask them to remove the “strike” – I get automated responses every time – and the artist is unwilling to intervene on my behalf or tell me who she dealt with.
I acted quite innocently here and am now frightened to continue with Pinterest in case the same thing happens again.
Do you have any suggestions how I can get the “strike” removed and also how to avoid this situation next time, other than writing to everyone I up up front to ask if they are okay about me pinning their work.
Thanks!
debsanswers said:
I wouldn’t worry about it. I don’t think the strike against you is important. The artist has the right to not want her content reposted on Pinterest and I don’t think you should contact her at all. Personally I think people who don’t want their images posted on Pinterest, should block Pinterest, but if there is a copyright notice without a pin it button or other notice saying you can pin it, then you are supposed to ask for permission. Many people have added Pin it buttons to their pages.
Here’s a link to a blog post about the strike system:

Handmade in Israel said:
Thanks for your helpful reply. I appreciate your help. I like your tip that I should look for a ‘Pin it’ button in the future. I really had no intention of copying this artists work in any shape or form, I just pinned her item because I liked it! I wish she’d simply blocked Pinterest rather than calling time on me. Happy Christmas.
Handmade in Israel said:
The thing that muddled me is that she doesn’t mind photos of her work from her shop being pinned. She simply didn’t like me pinning the very same photo from her blog! Confusing…
debsanswers said:
Actually I do understand that. It’s about the link. The picture in her shop will lead directly back to her shop and increases the chances that the person clicking on it could purchase that picture or something else from her shop.
Pins are public and pinning her picture is like taping it to a window in a business.
I watermark the product pictures in my Etsy shop with my shop name so that if my pictures get pinned or shared without the link, people will still know how to get back to my shop.
Handmade in Israel said:

debsanswers said:
I was asked a question and I answered it. Don’t scream at me because you don’t like Pinterest. I did explain that she should ask permission. There are plenty of website with pin it buttons on the web, those are the safest to pin.

Yes. I did, and they gave me back my account, well only for some hours because when I was deleting images from my erotic board they deactivated my account again.
I didn’t get time enough to do it, and I’m not sure if it was because nudity content more people have it. I got many tags open at the same time in Chrome when I was deleting my images, maybe they thought I was spam?

I have never begun an account with pinterest (I refuse to sign-up via Facebook or Twitter), but at one time I did enjoy perusing the “Everything” page for the varied content: e-cards, favorite books, recipes, tips, crafts.
Lately there have been more and more absolutely disgusting and inappropriate posts popping up and I no longer enjoy the site for that reason.
It is not possible to contact them, and since I have no account, it apparently is not possible to “flag” a post either.
It is my sincere hope another site comes along that is more appropriate for most users. Pinterest is proving to be the same as Facebook, all money and no responsibility.
debsanswers said:
Allowing non members to flag posts is asking for abuse.
Lynn said:
Not sure how someone can abuse flagging inappropriate posts. Though I certainly appreciate everyone has a varying opinion, it is Pinterest’s own request to help stop the porn that has been increasingly showing on their site. (and they make the site accessible to non-members to peruse since it drives up traffic for the obvious business related reasons).
debsanswers said:
Non members includes people who have been banned from the site and they could and would flag any and all posts, regardless of content, in retaliation.

I’ve noticed that the new followers I’m getting have several things in common. They have less than ten boards, they follow thousands of pinners hoping to have a large amount follow them in return. They appear to have a business or blog. I think they are spammers. When I don’t follow them they leave by the dozens. I wonder if Pinterest is even aware or care? Have you noticed?

“Dear Sir/Madam,
I would like to thank you for the enjoyment I experienced using Pinterest. However, I feel I should draw your attention to a disturbing experience that led to me cancelling my use of Pinterest. One of the boards I joined displayed Pins that I found deeply offensive and blasphemous. On leaving comments on three different pins, someone deleted them with some abusive remarks, blocking me from making further comments. I feel this to be intolerant of other peoples right to express their own views in a constructive way and thought I should make you aware of this. Many thanks.
David R.Ray”
I wondered whether anyone in the Customer Service team has had a chance to consider any of my comments in the above email message and if you could please send me back some feedback. I am also concerned that despite deleting all my boards a week ago, I continue to receive emails from Pinterest, advising me that someone is following them! Thanks again.

I have been using pinterest since 19.2.2016 and still learning and have come up with problems caused by other pinners and system itself.
I”ve only been using pinterest since 19.2.2016 & still learning hiw to use it and problems have arisen which should come to your attention.
I’ve recently just pinned a few people who have pimned me but found out porn & other stuff is appearing when i look to see what to pin.
For example only pressed follow not anything else on the page then finding out the pinterest system has made seem like i have pressed them when i hadn’t & went back in to try to unfollow them but the system comes up with spam.
Another example when i have only followed a few ALL have shown that i have pinned them when infact i haven’t Especially those that do have porn on there boards, which have come up on my pinning page or whatever it is called.
Some also had delete a board from my page Sexy Underwear which has made me very angry as it wasn’t lewd.
Please give me advice or if you can remove it internally from my pages cause i hate seeing it there which stops me from viewing this page.
Plus heaps of people pin everything in my certain boards in which i have blocked two people already for doing it, it has been invreasing as they don’t follow your boards they just pin as much as they can stop the go back later, can you keep an eye from this happening again from the IT area.
Thank you I need immediate response.

My mb phone also kept crashing crashing but my account was still there on the system.
Why is it that use mb phine uses that do use pinterest loafs more fast the system says we are spamming when we aren’t.
Nor can we check our boatds or use them like computer users can as there are heaps more different functions than on my mb phone pinterest isn’t quite mb friendly at all and computer users are the ones they do the spamming.

Pinterest seems to be very good at avoiding everything they don’t wish to address! My complaint/question is how do some of their pins not fall in x-rated/pornography/adult categories? How to give a blow job and oral sex tips, both posted by amazing life, are posted in a general category and out there for all to see-including children. I’ve tried to contact them to no avail, but I do plan to go farther with this. It’s sad because I do enjoy the site for tips, humor, etc.

I have Pinterest pulled-up on my phone and iPad at all times. I was using it this afternoon to make lamb meatballs for lunch. This evening, I was logged-out. As I tired logging back in, I couldn’t remember my password, so I used the “reset password” option. That seemed to work fine, so I logged back in to find my page looks like a brand new account. I have zero boards or pins!!! I had thousands of pins! Recipes galore and all kinds of activities and health information saved for my kiddos. How can I get all of my stuff back? So sad and frustrated!

The violent nature of the game attracted criticism and was banned from sale

Complaint on my Pinterest boards. As I check into outlook and click on each pinned or followed, each board had a block over the title of each picture stating how many pins in that picture. That makes it more difficult to know what kind of category is inside that picture that is viewed. So as a result I delete all the pins revealed and go directly to Pinterest to pin pictures on my boards. If this could be corrected, I would appreciate it. The whole concept is pinning on each other’s boards and also Pinterest. Please check into this issue. It makes me uninterested in what others have on their boards when I have to try to see what’s on each of theirs because it is directly over their title. This has not always been. It has started recently. I would appreciate it if you would correct this matter.
Thank you,
Barbara Beaman
